Melania Trump Denies Epstein Link, Demands Congressional Action
Former First Lady Melania Trump has launched an explosive public denial of any association with the late financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. In a televised press conference held at the White House on Thursday, April 9, she categorically refuted allegations that Epstein played any role in her relationship with former President Donald Trump.
"I Am Not Epstein's Victim"
Reading from a prepared statement, Melania Trump firmly declared, "I am not Epstein's victim, Epstein did not introduce me to Donald Trump." She detailed that she first met her husband by chance at a New York City party in 1998, an encounter she says is documented in her book, Melania. According to her account, the initial meeting with Epstein did not occur until the year 2000 at an event she attended with Donald Trump.
"At the time, I had never met Epstein and had no knowledge of his criminal undertakings," she emphasized, addressing years of circulating social media rumors and fabricated images linking her to the disgraced billionaire.
Addressing the Ghislaine Maxwell Email
Melania Trump also addressed an email exchange with Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein's former associate, which was uncovered in the Epstein files. She described her reply as "casual correspondence" and insisted it held no significant meaning. The email, sent to Maxwell addressed as 'G', praised her appearance in a New York Magazine article that included a quote from Donald Trump about Epstein liking women "on the younger side."
In the email, Melania wrote, "Dear G, How are you? Nice story about JE in NY mag. You look great in the picture." She inquired about Maxwell's visit to Palm Beach and expressed eagerness to visit herself, closing with, "Give me a call when you are back in NY. Have a great time! Love, Melania." Maxwell responded warmly, calling her "sweet pea" but indicated a busy schedule preventing a meet-up.
Legal and Evidentiary Standpoint
Asserting her innocence, Melania Trump stated, "I'm not a witness or a named witness in connection with any of Epstein's crimes. My name has never appeared in court documents, depositions, victim statements or FBI interviews surrounding the Epstein matter." She reiterated having no knowledge of Epstein's abuses and never being involved in any capacity.
She highlighted her legal efforts, noting, "My attorneys and I have fought these unfounded and baseless lies with success," and called for truth, saying, "Each and every woman should have her day to tell her story in public if she wishes. Then, and only then, we will have the truth."
Call for Congressional Investigation
In a striking move, Melania Trump urged Congress to take action, declaring, "Now is the time for Congress to act. Epstein was not alone." She referenced several prominent male executives who resigned after the matter became politicized, clarifying this does not imply guilt but underscores the need for transparency.
"We still must work openly and transparently to uncover the truth," she concluded, throwing what observers described as political dynamite into an issue her husband has historically despised. The press conference, shared widely on social media, has sparked renewed debate and calls for accountability in the Epstein case.
