The Nigeria Governors' Forum (NGF) has congratulated Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State on his reelection victory. The forum, in a statement by its chairman and Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, also commended the people of Osun for the large voter turnout during the off-cycle governorship election held last Saturday.
NGF Commends Osun Voters and Democracy Resilience
The NGF said the interest generated by the off-cycle ballot again confirmed the resilience of Nigerian democracy. The forum acknowledged the important role that opposition parties played in shaping the nation's democracy and commended all candidates for their efforts.
Security Agencies Praised for Ensuring Peaceful Election
The NGF also commended security agencies for curtailing the initial trend of violence in the days leading up to the election and for creating a secure environment that enabled the exercise to proceed without many incidents.
President Tinubu Acknowledged for Statesmanlike Role
The statement added: "Finally, we acknowledge the statesmanlike role that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has played as he carefully balanced his position as the leader of the ruling party on the one hand and the father of the nation on the other." The forum urged Governor Adeleke to continue to build on the successes of his first term in the overall interest of the people of Osun State.
