PDP Demands Tinubu's Resignation Over Nigeria's Worsening Insecurity Crisis
PDP to Tinubu: Seek Help or Resign Over Insecurity

The Peoples Democratic Party has issued a strong ultimatum to President Bola Tinubu, demanding he either seek external assistance for Nigeria's security challenges or resign from office immediately.

Growing Security Crisis Sparks Political Confrontation

During a press conference held in Abuja over the weekend, PDP National Publicity Secretary Ini Ememobong expressed deep concern about the deteriorating security situation across northern states. He specifically referenced the recent abductions of students in Kebbi and Niger states, along with worshippers in Kwara State, as clear evidence of the administration's failure.

Ememobong emphasized that protecting citizens represents the fundamental responsibility of any government, stating that the current administration has demonstrated neither the capability nor the willingness to fulfill this basic duty.

PDP's Strong Criticism of Government Response

The opposition party particularly criticized what it described as the federal government's inadequate response to multiple kidnapping incidents occurring within less than a week. Ememobong characterized the presidency's approach as slow, unempathetic, and politically motivated.

He expressed particular disappointment that President Tinubu didn't personally visit affected communities in Kebbi and Niger States to console parents of abducted children and address security personnel. Instead, the President delegated this responsibility by directing the Minister of State for Defence to relocate to Kebbi.

School Closures Draw Sharp Rebuke

The PDP spokesperson also condemned decisions by both state and federal governments to close certain schools in response to security threats. He argued that this strategy effectively surrenders to terrorists and undermines the educational system.

The party remains alarmed that despite the escalating crisis, the Federal Government has failed to implement a coordinated response that would effectively address the security emergency facing the nation.
