Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has credited divine intervention for his emergence and survival in office, recounting political conspiracies, Supreme Court battles, and spiritual attacks he faced before and after becoming governor.
Speaking at a thanksgiving service marking the third anniversary of his administration at the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) headquarters in Jos, Mutfwang said God sustained him through legal challenges to his election, security crises, and political opposition.
He recalled that shortly after assuming office in May 2023, violent attacks erupted in Mangu Local Government Area while his election victory was being challenged in court up to the Supreme Court, which affirmed his mandate on January 12, 2024.
The governor also reflected on the fierce PDP governorship primaries, saying huge financial resources were deployed against him, but “money failed, and God prevailed.” Mutfwang disclosed that he rejected offers of supernatural assistance from individuals who promised political success through unconventional means, insisting that his confidence remained solely in God.
He highlighted achievements of his administration in road construction, healthcare, water supply, transportation, and social intervention programmes despite security and economic challenges.
The governor called for unity among Plateau residents, urging citizens to rise above ethnic, religious, and political differences to build a more prosperous state.
Earlier, Deputy Governor Ngo Josephine Piyo outlined achievements recorded by the administration, while COCIN President Rev. Dr. Amos Mohzo described Plateau’s progress as evidence of God’s faithfulness despite numerous challenges.
Traditional ruler and Chairman of the Jos North Traditional Council, HRH Pozoh Johnson Jauro Magaji II, also commended Mutfwang’s performance and urged citizens to continue supporting his administration.
