President Bola Tinubu has approved a new salary structure for the Nigerian Armed Forces, with pay increases ranging from 30% to 80% depending on rank. Wage Bill to Rise by ₦264 Billion
The approved increases will push the Armed Forces wage bill from ₦660 billion to ₦924 billion annually, an increase of ₦264 billion in personnel costs. The tiered structure grants the largest raise—80%—to soldiers from Private to Staff Sergeant, while personnel from Under Colonel down to Warrant Officers receive a 50% increase, and those holding the rank of Colonel and above get a 30% raise.
