Tinubu Shows Respect to Obasanjo During Ogun State Project Commissioning
A video that has gone viral on social media platforms captures the moment President Bola Ahmed Tinubu bowed respectfully to former President Olusegun Obasanjo. This significant gesture occurred during the official commissioning ceremony of multiple infrastructure projects at the Gateway International Airport in Iperu, Ogun State.
One-Day Working Visit Focuses on Infrastructure Development
President Tinubu embarked on a one-day working visit to Ogun State, widely recognized as the Gateway State. The primary objective of this visit was to commission and inspect several key projects designed to enhance infrastructure development, stimulate economic expansion, and improve overall service delivery to residents.
The centerpiece of the presidential visit was the formal commissioning of the Gateway International Airport in Iperu. This major initiative is strategically intended to position Ogun State as a leading aviation and logistics hub within Nigeria, potentially transforming regional transportation and commerce.
Launch of Gateway Air and Aviation Program
Within the airport complex, President Tinubu presided over the commissioning of two newly acquired aircraft under the banner of Gateway Air. This event officially marks the launch of Ogun State's ambitious aviation program, signaling a new era of air travel and connectivity for the region.
The visit underscores the state government's unwavering commitment to strategic investments in critical infrastructure. By enhancing connectivity, these projects aim to foster economic growth and improve accessibility for businesses and citizens alike.
Road and Security Infrastructure Enhancements
In addition to the aviation developments, President Tinubu commissioned the newly constructed Ilishan–Iperu Airport Road. This vital transportation artery is expected to link the new aviation hub directly to surrounding communities, thereby improving accessibility and stimulating local commerce through better logistics.
The presidential itinerary also included an inspection of the Nigeria Customs Service Village and the commissioning of the Forward Operating Base (FOB) building. These security infrastructure projects are designed to strengthen border security measures while simultaneously facilitating smoother and more efficient trade operations across the region.
Furthermore, Tinubu inspected and commissioned the Gateway Aviation Village, a complementary facility established to support the state's burgeoning aviation sector by providing necessary amenities and services.
Expressway Renaming and Regional Connectivity
A highlight of the infrastructure tour was the official opening of the reconstructed Old Ibadan Road, stretching from Sapade to Ilishan. This key route has been renamed the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Expressway in honor of the president.
This expressway is anticipated to significantly enhance regional connectivity, reduce travel times, and drive increased economic activities throughout Ogun State and neighboring areas.
The respectful bow from President Tinubu to former President Obasanjo has drawn widespread commendation from observers and social media commentators, who view it as a demonstration of deference and respect between current and former national leaders.
