President Tinubu Prioritizes National Security Over International Summits

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has taken the decisive step of postponing his scheduled international travel to crucial summits in South Africa and Angola. This move comes as a direct response to urgent security developments within Nigeria, specifically the abduction of schoolgirls in Kebbi State and a violent attack on worshippers in Kwara State.

Immediate Security Response in Kwara

Acting on a request from Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, President Tinubu has ordered a significant reinforcement of security personnel. Additional forces have been deployed to Eruku and the broader Ekiti Local Government Area to bolster the existing security framework. The President has given a clear directive for the police to actively pursue the bandits responsible for the Tuesday assault on the Christ Apostolic Church.

The Governor's Chief Press Secretary, Mallam Rafiu Ajakaye, confirmed that his principal sought immediate action. The state government has condemned the attack and pledged its continued support to security agencies to ensure the safety of all residents and their properties.

Awaiting Critical Briefings on Kidnappings and Attacks

President Tinubu was originally set to depart Abuja on 19 November 2025 to attend the 20th G20 Summit in Johannesburg, followed by the 7th AU-EU Summit in Luanda. However, disturbed by the security breaches, he has suspended his departure. He is now awaiting comprehensive reports from multiple sources.

These include an update from Vice President Kashim Shettima, who conducted a sympathy visit to Kebbi on the President's behalf. Reports are also expected from the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services (DSS) concerning the details of the Kwara attack. President Tinubu has reiterated his firm order to security agencies to spare no effort in rescuing the 24 abducted schoolgirls from Kebbi and bringing them home safely.

Broad Condemnation and Support for Security Measures
