President Tinubu Chooses Modest 74th Birthday Celebration in Tune with National Sentiment
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has declared that he will observe his 74th birthday in a low-key manner, a decision he attributes to the prevailing mood of the nation. In a birthday message released on Sunday, the President emphasized that this approach is consistent with his long-standing tradition of marking birthdays modestly when national circumstances call for such restraint.
"Consistent with my tradition of marking my birthday in line with the mood of the nation, I have resolved to observe this year’s birthday in a low-key manner," Tinubu stated. He expressed heartfelt gratitude to Nigerians for their outpouring of goodwill messages, prayers, and unwavering support on this special occasion.
Appreciation for Support and Acknowledgment of Well-Wishers
Tinubu took the opportunity to thank all citizens for their patriotism, solidarity, and backing of his administration. "I want to take this moment to thank Nigerians for their messages, show of love and prayers on the occasion of my 74th birthday. I thank all our citizens for their patriotism, solidarity and support for our administration," he said.
He also acknowledged those who celebrated him through various media platforms, as well as members of his family and Vice President Kashim Shettima. "To those who have taken space in newspapers or paid for airtime on radio and television to wish me well, I thank you immensely," Tinubu remarked. He extended special thanks to his wife, First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, for her kind and loving words, and to Vice President Shettima for his supportive remarks.
Confidence in Administration's Future and Collective Efforts
Looking ahead, President Tinubu expressed strong confidence that his administration will deliver a brighter future for Nigerians. He noted that despite the challenges encountered since the introduction of reforms, there are encouraging signs of progress. "As we march towards the third anniversary of our administration, it is my deepest conviction that we shall succeed in building a brighter future for our citizens and future generations," he affirmed.
Tinubu highlighted that the gains achieved so far are the result of collective effort, not solely his own or that of his team. "The credit for the positive outcomes we have achieved does not belong solely to me, our Renewed Hope team, or our government. We achieved the gains together," he said. He assured Nigerians of his administration's determination to overcome current challenges, including those exacerbated by the ongoing Middle East crisis, and called for continued support to navigate these difficulties successfully.
