Yobe Governor Approves Automatic Jobs for 416 Nursing Graduates to Boost Healthcare

Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has announced the approval of automatic employment for 416 nursing graduates from the Shehu Sule College of Nursing Sciences. This significant development aims to strengthen healthcare delivery across the state by addressing critical manpower shortages.

Graduation Ceremony Announcement

The governor made the announcement during the graduation ceremony held at the institution in Damaturu, the state capital, on Tuesday, April 7. Governor Buni was represented at the event by his deputy, Idi Gubana, who conveyed the administration's commitment to enhancing the healthcare sector.

According to reports from NTA, the beneficiaries include:

  • 62 Higher National Diploma Nursing graduates

Governor Buni explained that this decision forms part of his government's ongoing efforts to improve access to quality healthcare services throughout Yobe State. The automatic employment initiative directly tackles the persistent shortage of medical professionals that has hampered healthcare delivery in many regions.

Education and National Development Discussions

This development comes amid broader discussions about education's role in national development. Recently, Governor Buni and Niger State Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago met with Comrade Isaac Balami, the founding chancellor of Isaac Balami University of Aeronautics and Management (IBUAM), in Abuja.

During their discussions, Balami introduced a strategic initiative to enroll outstanding youths into IBUAM, which has already garnered commitments from multiple state governments across Nigeria. Both governors expressed strong support for education's role in fostering national development and committed to exploring strategic partnerships to promote investment in youth empowerment.

Governor Bago's Response to IBUAM Proposal

Governor Bago congratulated Balami on establishing new academic standards within the country and expressed admiration for the university's commitment. He indicated his intention to dispatch a delegation to Lagos to evaluate IBUAM's facilities both at the airport and on campus.

"I am familiar with your work, Balami, and have read positive reports about your university. As part of Niger State policy, I will dispatch a delegation to Lagos to evaluate your facilities both at the airport and on campus," Governor Bago stated.

Balami affirmed that such partnerships could position Niger State at the forefront of youth development and academic excellence.

Yobe's Ongoing Educational Initiatives

In the subsequent meeting, Governor Buni commended Balami for providing comprehensive information about IBUAM and its programs. He recounted that his administration has sponsored approximately 300 students to study in India to enhance human capital development in Yobe State.

The governor noted that fluctuations in exchange rates have threatened to disrupt these educational efforts, but affirmed his government's unwavering commitment to ensuring students' welfare and continuing these vital programs.

Borno State's Partnership with IBUAM

Earlier reports indicate that about 54 students sponsored by the Borno State government have already commenced studies at IBUAM. Among the beneficiaries is Ihsan Yakubu, a Chibok girl who expressed confidence that women can excel in aviation during her matriculation ceremony.

"Aviation is not reserved for men. If you want to be a pilot as a lady, make up your mind and pursue it. No one can stop you," she declared.

Parents of beneficiaries have praised the program, noting that it could transform not only individual families but the future of Borno State. Several parents specifically commended Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum for investing in the future of indigent youths across the state.

The automatic employment of 416 nursing graduates represents a concrete step toward addressing healthcare challenges in Yobe State, while the broader discussions about educational partnerships highlight growing recognition of education's critical role in national development across Nigeria's northern states.
