Yoruba APC Leaders in FCT Back Tinubu for 2027

In a strategic move ahead of the 2027 general elections, Yoruba leaders and newly inaugurated executives of the All Progressives Congress (APC) across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have reaffirmed their unwavering support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda.

The resolution was reached during an intensive interactive session held on Friday, April 24, 2026, at the Presidential Villa. The meeting brought together party stalwarts from all 62 wards across the six Area Councils and was convened by Chief Dr. Abiodun Essiet, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement (North Central), and Dr. Adedayo Benjamin Laniyi, Mandate Secretary of the FCT Women Affairs Secretariat.

The communiqué issued at the end of the session serves as a political blueprint for the Yoruba community within the nation's capital. Key highlights of the resolutions include a unanimous pledge to mobilize all districts and communities to ensure the re-election of President Tinubu in January 2027. The leadership conducted a SWOT analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats) for each Area Council to refine electoral strategies and resolve internal friction. Participants also advocated for greater representation of Yoruba residents in FCT governance, noting that inclusion strengthens loyalty and promotes stability.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Adedayo Benjamin Laniyi emphasized that political success requires more than just individual capacity. "Capacity alone does not guarantee opportunity; opportunity can only thrive where unity and love prevail," she stated, urging members to prioritize collective progress over personal ambition.

The forum also sent a strong message to the government regarding the welfare of the grassroots. The leaders urged for the sustained delivery of palliatives and social interventions, noting that tangible benefits are essential to maintaining voter enthusiasm and public confidence.

A significant portion of the meeting focused on internal cohesion. The leaders specifically addressed the need for reconciliation in the Bwari Area Council, urging members to heal grievances arising from past primaries. The communiqué cautioned against divisive tendencies that could weaken the Yoruba political block in the FCT.

The stakeholders reserved special praise for Chief Dr. Abiodun Essiet, citing her second-to-none commitment to grassroots engagement across the North Central region. Her efforts were credited with bridging the gap between the presidency and local communities, creating a formidable front for the party's future activities.

The meeting concluded with a call for Yoruba residents in Abaji, Kwali, Gwagwalada, Kuje, Bwari, and AMAC to take greater ownership of the political process, signaling a robust and unified start to the 2027 campaign season.
