Youth Coalition Applauds Minister's Humanitarian and Leadership Efforts in Ondo

A coalition of youths in Ondo State has publicly praised the Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, for his ongoing humanitarian initiatives, particularly the expansion of a renewable energy streetlight project that is transforming both urban and rural areas across the state. The youths, operating under the banner of the Coalition of Ondo Emerging Leaders (COEL), highlighted that the minister's interventions are delivering real-time improvements to community security and infrastructure, making a tangible difference in daily life.

Infrastructure Upgrades and Community Impact

During a press briefing in Akure, the state capital, Oluseye Akintunde, chairman of the coalition, detailed the latest phase of the streetlight initiative, which has resulted in significant upgrades in multiple communities. According to Akintunde, these installations have enhanced nighttime visibility and overall quality of life, with key projects including 100 streetlights in Obiringba Town off Irese Road, 50 lights in Ogun Ajobo Community, 33 lights in Shagari Village, and an additional 50 lights along Irese Road.

He further emphasized that 233 streetlights have been completed near the Police Headquarters SIB–Seat of Wisdom Catholic Schools area in Alagbaka, and another 233 lights have been installed in the Imafon Community. Additionally, 233 streetlights have been placed in inner-city neighbourhoods such as Odopetu, Odige, Oke Padi, Otutubiosun, Igboliki, Ijeminkin, Irowo, and Hospital Lane, ensuring that both central and grassroots areas benefit from comprehensive coverage.

Leadership Model and Youth Engagement

Akintunde also commended the minister's active engagement with the youth in Ondo State, noting that this interaction has provided them with lifetime opportunities. He stated, "The minister's efforts continue to change communities in the state with these renewable energy streetlights. This is a bold and forward-thinking project that not only enhances security but also encourages sustainable development. The initiative is already changing the urban landscape of Akure, stimulating economic activities, and restoring confidence among residents."

The coalition described the project as a model of people-focused leadership, urging for its continued expansion to reach more communities. They stressed that access to reliable lighting is crucial for safety, productivity, and social wellbeing, reiterating their support for initiatives that enhance lives and strengthen communities. In their statement, the youths praised the minister for his unwavering commitment to building safer, brighter, and more sustainable communities across Ondo State.
