Igbo-Eze South Council Chair Gets Administrative Excellence Award

The Chairman of Igbo-Eze South Local Government Council in Enugu State, Ugo Ferdinand Ukwueze, has been honoured with an Award of Administrative Excellence by the Africare Economic Development Trust Organisation, based in Abuja. The award was presented in collaboration with Civic Rights for Good Governance and Top News International Magazine, also of Abuja.

Mr Ukwueze, a lawyer who also serves as the deputy chairman of the Enugu State chapter of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria, disclosed the recognition in a Facebook post on Friday, 3 July. He described the award as a profound honour and expressed deep gratitude for the recognition.

Acceptance Speech Highlights

In his Facebook post, the council chairman stated: “I accept this recognition with profound gratitude, humility and an even greater sense of responsibility. While this award acknowledges our commitment to transparent governance, institutional reforms and people-centred leadership, I consider it a reflection of the collective efforts and the support of the good people of Igbo-Eze South Local Government Area.”

Mr Ukwueze further noted that his administration is inspired by the transformational leadership and development-driven vision of Enugu State Governor, Dr Peter Ndubuisi Mbah. He pledged to continue aligning local aspirations with the governor’s broader agenda for a better Enugu State.

Appreciation to Organisers and Governor

The chairman thanked Africare, Civic Rights for Good Governance, and Top News International Magazine for deeming his administration’s “modest contributions worthy of this prestigious honour”. He also extended gratitude to Governor Peter Mbah, “whose visionary leadership continues to inspire excellence in governance across Enugu State”.

Mr Ukwueze dedicated the award to the resilient people of Igbo-Eze South, stating: “I dedicate this recognition to the resilient people of Igbo-Eze South, whose confidence, cooperation and support continue to inspire us to serve with greater commitment.” The award underscores the council’s focus on transparent governance and institutional reforms under his leadership.
