APC Governors Align State Priorities with National Reforms

The Governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC), operating under the umbrella of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), have concluded a crucial meeting aimed at synchronizing their state-level agendas with the national reforms of the Federal Government. The two-day gathering took place on Friday, December 5th, and Saturday, December 6th, 2025, at the Eko Hotels Board Room on Victoria Island, Lagos.

Forum Reaffirms Commitment to Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda

The meeting was convened by the Chairman of the PGF and Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, and hosted by the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu. In a communiqué issued on Saturday by the Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotosho, the Forum stated that the engagement allowed for a review of the nation's current path, enhanced coordination among the governors, and a reaffirmation of their solid support for President Bola Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda.

Omotosho emphasized that the meeting provided a vital platform for aligning state priorities with federal reforms, putting citizens' welfare at the heart of governance, and consolidating a shared vision of accountable, people-focused leadership across all government tiers.

Key Resolutions and Focus Areas

The Forum's deliberations culminated in several key resolutions across major sectors affecting Nigerian citizens.

On Governance and the Economy: The governors conducted a broad review of Nigeria's political, economic, and social landscape. They unanimously agreed that the core objective of any reform must be the tangible improvement of daily life for all Nigerians. The PGF commended President Tinubu for his efforts to stabilize the economy and bolster national security. They pledged to align state policies with federal initiatives on food security, power, infrastructure, and social investment to ensure benefits reach every community.

Acknowledging the economic pressures faced by citizens, the Forum resolved to intensify state-level interventions. These include boosting food production and distribution, supporting SMEs, creating youth employment, and expanding social protection for the most vulnerable and low-income households. They committed to working closely with federal and local government institutions to ensure no group is left behind.

Infrastructure, Security, and Grassroots Engagement

On Infrastructure and Development: The Forum highlighted the critical role of infrastructure, urban renewal, and rural development in improving living standards. Lagos State was commended for its pioneering models in transport and urban regeneration. The governors agreed to increase investments in roads, housing, public transport, and digital connectivity, with a focus on climate resilience and inclusion for marginalized groups.

On Security and Social Cohesion: After reviewing the national security situation, the PGF expressed appreciation for improved coordination among security structures. They resolved to strengthen local security architectures, community-based initiatives, and conflict-prevention mechanisms. The Forum also stressed the importance of promoting social cohesion, inter-faith harmony, and unity while isolating hate speech and criminality.

On Local Governance and Party Unity: The governors reiterated that effective local governance is essential for delivering the Renewed Hope Agenda at the grassroots. They pledged to deepen reforms for transparency and service delivery in local government administration. The PGF also reaffirmed its unwavering loyalty to the APC, pledging to play a stabilizing role within the party to keep it as a performance-driven platform for national transformation.

In closing, the Progressive Governors Forum presented itself as a committee of leaders and trustees of the people's mandate, jointly responsible for turning national aspirations into concrete socio-economic outcomes across Nigeria.
