Former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose has publicly outlined detailed instructions for his funeral arrangements, requesting that his burial be conducted within one month of his passing.
Emotional Revelation During Birthday Celebration
The surprising announcement came during Fayose's 65th birthday celebration on Saturday, November 15, where a pre-recorded video message was played for attendees. In the emotional footage, the former governor clearly stated his final wishes regarding how he wants to be laid to rest.
Fayose explicitly instructed that his body should be handed over to the Ekiti State Government for burial arrangements. He emphasized that the interment must occur within four weeks of his death, acknowledging that the state government might need sufficient time to prepare adequately.
Specific Burial Instructions and Location
The former governor provided precise details about his preferred resting place, indicating he has already prepared a burial site at his grandmother's compound. He described the location as having a triangular shape where he has created a garden specifically for this purpose.
Fayose also made it clear that after his burial, his family should be allowed to mourn privately. "After my departure, nobody must come there again. Allow me to go," he stated emotionally in the video. "If you want to show me love, if you want to take care of me, do so now."
Regarding his family's involvement, he instructed that his children should wear their own clothes and work with the Ekiti State Government at the time of his death to ensure proper arrangements are made.

Ayodele Fayose has served as governor of Ekiti State twice under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). His first term spanned from 2003 to 2006, while his second term covered 2014 to 2018.
