Ikareland Balogun, Delegation Praise Aiyedatiwa Over Ikare-Akungba Road Dualisation
Ikare Leaders Commend Governor on Road Project

Following the recent Ikare Day festivities, a high-powered delegation led by the Balogun of Ikareland, Chief Abdul Tunji Mohamed (ATM), paid a courtesy visit to Ondo State Governor, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa. The visit, which took place on 18 December 2025, was primarily to express gratitude for the governor's steadfast support during and after the chief's installation as the community's Balogun.

Formal Appreciation and Commendation for Development

The delegation, comprising associates from both the public and private sectors, formally thanked Governor Aiyedatiwa for his unwavering backing of Chief Abdul Tunji Mohamed and the wider Ikare-Akoko community. A central point of praise was the administration's commitment to infrastructural renewal in Akoko land, specifically the commencement of the Ikare–Akungba Road dualisation project.

Chief Abdul, speaking during the meeting, highlighted that this project represents a significant leap forward for the region. He noted that the dualisation work, which is now fully underway, is already yielding positive impacts. These include enhanced travel safety and a noticeable boost in economic activities for the diverse users of the route.

Project Benefits Students, Traders, and Motorists

The importance of this road cannot be overstated, as it serves as a critical artery for residents, traders, motorists, and thousands of students from the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko (AAUA). The ongoing upgrade is expected to significantly ease the daily commute and foster greater connectivity and commerce in the area.

Beyond local development, the delegation also used the opportunity to address broader national issues. They emphasised the critical need for sustained political stability and continuity at the federal level. The policies of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration were acknowledged, with a call for continued public support for the government's ongoing reform programmes.

Governor Reaffirms Commitment to Infrastructure

In his response, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa expressed his appreciation for the delegation's visit and kind words. He reaffirmed his administration's deep commitment to infrastructural development across all parts of Ondo State. The governor gave specific assurances regarding the Ikare–Akungba dual carriageway, confirming it remains a top priority project that will be delivered to a high and durable standard.

The meeting concluded on a note of mutual goodwill and a shared resolve to collaborate for the continued progress and development of Ikare-Akoko and Ondo State in general. This engagement underscores the importance of community-leadership dialogue in driving tangible development projects that directly improve the lives of citizens.
