Governor Seyi Makinde has restated his administration's unwavering dedication to spreading the benefits of democratic governance to every corner of Oyo State. The governor made this pledge during a significant visit to the palace of the Olugbon of Orile-Igbon, Oba Francis Alao, on Friday, January 17, 2026.
Governor's Assurance of Balanced Development
Addressing a gathering of traditional rulers, community leaders, and residents in Orile-Igbon, Surulere Local Government Area, Governor Makinde called for sustained cooperation from the people of the Ogbomoso zone. He emphasized that his government remains focused on improving infrastructure and enhancing the quality of life for citizens in all parts of the state.
In a major announcement, the governor disclosed that the rehabilitation of inner roads across the five local government areas within the Ogbomoso zone would soon commence. He described this initiative as a critical component of his administration's broader agenda to ensure no area is neglected in the state's development journey.
"Our goal is to develop Oyo State without leaving any zone behind," Governor Makinde declared. "We are committed to ensuring that the dividends of democracy reach every community, including the inner towns and rural areas."
Confidence in Continuity of Governance
Looking beyond his own tenure, Governor Makinde expressed strong confidence in the continuity of good governance in Oyo State. He asserted that his successor would not only sustain but would also surpass the achievements recorded under his leadership.
"There will be continuity of good governance in Oyo State," he stated. "Whoever succeeds this administration will build on what we have done and even do better for our people."

Earlier in the visit, the host monarch, Oba Francis Alao, the Olugbon of Orile-Igbon, commended Governor Makinde for what he termed unprecedented achievements across critical sectors. The traditional ruler highlighted significant progress in infrastructure, education, and governance reforms.
Oba Alao pledged the continued support and loyalty of the people of Orile-Igbon and the entire zone to the Makinde-led administration. He urged the governor to remain steadfast in his commitment to inclusive development that benefits all communities.
