Representative Donald Ojogo, representing Ilaje/Ese Odo Federal Constituency in Ondo State, has distributed 4,500 bags of rice to residents across the constituency. The distribution, held at the Teachers Hall in Okoga, Igbokoda, was part of efforts to ease the burden on families facing tough economic conditions.
Ojogo, a member of the House of Representatives, said the rice was secured through his collaboration with the National Productivity Centre in Abuja. Beneficiaries from Ilaje and Ese Odo Local Government Areas gathered to receive the food items on Monday, 15 September 2026.
Intervention Aimed at Federal Opportunities
Explaining the reason behind the programme, Ojogo said he wanted to ensure that opportunities from federal government agencies reached ordinary people in his constituency. The rice was shared with residents as part of what the lawmaker described as an effort to translate federal institutions' opportunities into tangible benefits.
“This intervention is part of my efforts to ensure that opportunities available through federal institutions are translated into tangible benefits for the people. The rice is secured through my facilitation with the National Productivity Centre in Abuja,” Ojogo said.
Ojogo Rallies Support for Tinubu's 2027 Bid
Beyond sharing the rice, Ojogo used the occasion to rally support for President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general election. He urged residents of Ondo State to stand behind the President, saying they should support his bid for a second term.
“The re-election of President Bola Tinubu is paramount to us in Ondo State, I want to call on our people to support the president’s re-election in 2027 for us to continue enjoying the good things the president is doing for us in Ondo State and in Nigeria in general,” he said.
Former Lawmaker Commends Initiative
Former House of Representatives member Kolade Akinjo, who chaired the event, praised the initiative and described it as a practical way of supporting constituents. According to him, programmes that directly improve the welfare of the people deserve encouragement, especially at a time when many Nigerians are struggling with the rising cost of food and other essentials.
Community leaders and residents who attended the event also appreciated the gesture, with many beneficiaries thanking the lawmaker for the support. The distribution comes at a time when food prices remain high across Nigeria, with many politicians and elected officials stepping up constituency empowerment programmes and food interventions to cushion the impact of the country's economic challenges.
