Katsina State Governor, Dr. Dikko Radda, has given a firm commitment to the timely delivery of the significant N19.6 billion Daura Ring Road dualisation project. The governor made this pledge directly to the people of the Daura emirate during his ongoing tour of all 34 local government areas in the state.
Governor's Assurance on Strategic Infrastructure
The assurance was delivered on Thursday, December 4, 2025, in Daura Local Government Area. Governor Radda emphasized that his administration is fully dedicated to seeing the 14-kilometre road project completed as scheduled in 2026. This critical infrastructure is designed to encircle Daura town, with the primary goals of expanding the ancient city, alleviating severe traffic congestion, and significantly upgrading the area's transportation network.
Radda elaborated that beyond easing traffic, the dualised road will serve as a catalyst for new economic growth. It is expected to open up fresh economic corridors, benefiting both local residents and travellers passing through the region. The project is a cornerstone of the state's broader strategy to modernise infrastructure and support Daura's expanding role as a major commercial and administrative hub.

The governor outlined multiple layers of benefits from the project. Improved safety, enhanced connectivity, and direct support for local businesses are key outcomes, as smoother road networks are vital for the efficient movement of goods and services. Furthermore, the road will provide a faster, more reliable route for commuters, particularly during busy festive seasons and major events, making movement in and out of the city much more efficient.
Governor Radda used the opportunity to reassure Daura citizens that more developmental projects are in the pipeline. Reiterating his administration's focus on people-oriented development, Governor Radda explained that his state-wide tour is a deliberate effort to reconnect with citizens, understand their pressing needs firsthand, and ensure that government projects are closely aligned with community priorities. In a related development from the North-West region, Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, presented a proposed N861 billion budget for the 2026 fiscal year to the State House of Assembly in Gusau on the same Thursday. Governor Lawal described the budget as a "roadmap for transformation" and a declaration that Zamfara State will rise stronger. The proposal earmarks a substantial 83% (N714 billion) for capital expenditure, with recurrent spending set at N147.3 billion (17%).
Key sectoral allocations in the Zamfara proposal include N87 billion for health, N86 billion for agriculture, N65 billion for education, and N45 billion for public order and safety.
