Ehiliz Urges Sustained Investment in Youth Reform for National Development
As Nigeria's demographic landscape increasingly skews toward a youthful population, Ehigiamusoe Elizabeth Ngozi, widely known as Ehiliz, a celebrated gospel artiste, television personality, youth mentor, and entrepreneur, has issued a compelling call for urgent and sustained investment in youth reform and empowerment. She describes this as a non-negotiable cornerstone for national growth and stability, emphasizing that real progress cannot be built on infrastructure alone but must start with people.
Youth Reform as an Economic Imperative
In a detailed statement, Ehiliz articulated that any meaningful advancement in Nigeria must begin with deliberate policies that prioritize the education, skills development, and economic inclusion of young people. She stressed that policies must move beyond mere rhetoric to create tangible pathways for education, skills training, and civic participation. According to her, Nigeria's future hinges on how effectively it can harness the energy, creativity, and resilience of its youth population.
Ehiliz highlighted that youth reform is not just a social responsibility but an economic strategy. When young people are equipped with the right tools—such as education, mentorship, and opportunities—they become drivers of innovation and productivity rather than victims of unemployment and disillusionment. She pointed out the growing disconnect between formal education and market demands, noting that many graduates lack the practical skills required to thrive in today's rapidly evolving economy.
Advocating for Educational and Systemic Reforms
To address this gap, Ehiliz advocated for a restructured educational framework that integrates vocational training, digital literacy, and entrepreneurship from an early stage. Beyond education, she stressed the need for systemic reforms that remove barriers to youth participation in governance and decision-making processes. She emphasized that young Nigerians must not only be seen as beneficiaries of policies but also as active contributors to nation-building.
Empowerment, she stated, goes beyond job creation; it involves giving young people a voice, a stake, and a sense of ownership in the future of their country. Through her non-governmental organization, the Ehiliz Support Initiative (ESI), she has demonstrated her commitment to impacting and transforming the lives of youths and students. The initiative is designed to positively influence youths and children through training, seminars, and sensitization programs, countering the backdrop of a morally bankrupt society.
ESI's Role in Fostering Patriotism and Values
Ehiliz explained that the impact of social media and other vices is taking a toll on students, and ESI aims to instill a true sense of patriotism, moral virtues, and a positive mindset. It provides a new identity of value and service orientation to the youth and children. With over 32 years of experience in gospel music and 12 years as a television host, Ehiliz is also the convener of the "Vivid View Talk Show," a program dedicated to inspiring and educating Nigerian youths, focusing on character development, discipline, and moral values.
Her message underscores the critical need for holistic approaches to youth development, combining educational reforms, economic opportunities, and civic engagement to build a more stable and prosperous Nigeria.
