Ex-CAN Youth Leader Advocates for Youth Empowerment as National Priority

Belusochukwu Enwere, the former National Chairman of the Youth Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (YOWICAN), has issued a compelling call for the Federal Government to prioritize youth empowerment as a fundamental pathway to sustainable national development. Enwere made this appeal during a thanksgiving and reception ceremony held at Maria Mater Ecclesia Catholic Church in Ahiara, Mbaise, Imo State, marking the conclusion of his five-year tenure from 2021 to 2026.

Youth Empowerment Critical for National Progress

In a statement highlighted on Monday, March 16, Enwere stressed that investing in young people is essential for securing Nigeria's future and strengthening leadership across various sectors. He emphasized that his tenure focused on developing young Christian leaders and expanding opportunities for youth participation, describing it as a period of unprecedented growth, impact, and divine alignment. "We have empowered thousands of young Christian minds, built bridges across divides, and positioned YOWICAN as a beacon of youth excellence in our beloved Nigeria," Enwere stated.

Appreciation for Tinubu Administration's Support

The former youth leader expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his support of youth leadership initiatives under the Renewed Hope Agenda. Enwere remarked, "To His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, your Renewed Hope Agenda has been the mighty wind beneath our wings. You ignited a national awakening that made space for young leaders like us to rise, innovate, and serve." He also commended Nigeria's First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, for her efforts in empowering young people through various programs.

Collaboration with Political and Religious Leaders

Enwere acknowledged the support of Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, who backed his emergence as YOWICAN national chairman. "You saw the light and untapped potential in me when others looked away. Your mentorship, partnership, and belief transformed a personal calling into a national movement," he said. Additionally, he thanked Seyi Tinubu for sustaining youth-focused programs during his leadership, noting, "You never allow Christian youths to lack anything during my tenure. You're the hero of Christian youths in Nigeria."

He also expressed gratitude to the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria, the Christian Association of Nigeria, Archbishop Lucius Ugorji of Owerri, and Bishop Simeon Okezuo Nwobi of the Ahiara Diocese for their guidance and spiritual leadership. Enwere concluded by appreciating his family and associates, expressing confidence that the achievements of his tenure would inspire ongoing youth development initiatives across the country. "What we have achieved together is not the end, it is the beginning of greater things to come," he affirmed.
