In a significant move to alleviate hardship, the Deputy Chief Whip of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Hon. Maryam Yusuf Aladi, has executed a large-scale empowerment program for her constituents in Ilorin South.
Mega Empowerment for Widows and Artisans
The event, held on Saturday, 23 December 2025, directly benefited 500 widows drawn from across the eleven wards of the Ilorin South constituency. Each widow received essential food items including rice, beans, semovita, various cooking sauces, cooking oil, and a cash gift.
Beyond the widows, another 100 members of the constituency were gifted valuable equipment to boost their livelihoods. The donated items included grinding machines, sewing machines, solar-powered fans, driers, welding machines, and washing machines.
From Vision to Reality: A Lawmaker's Passion
Hon. Maryam Yusuf Aladi described the initiative, themed 'From Vision to Reality: Two Years of Delivering for Constituency', as an act of passion and humanity. She stated that the annual project is designed to complement the efforts of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq in making life easier for vulnerable groups within Kwara State.
The lawmaker, who is the first female representative from Ilorin South in the state assembly, operates these empowerment schemes through her Maryam Abio Yusuf Foundation (MAY Foundation). She revealed that the local party structure at her level was involved in determining the beneficiaries for the various items. Aladi boasted of having empowered over 5,000 constituents since the commencement of her annual empowerment project.
