Christmas Morning Visit to Rivers State University Teaching Hospital

Lady Valerie Fubara, who is also the founder of the Valerie SIMple Life Initiative, made her first stop at the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital (RSUTH) on the morning of December 25. The visit was part of activities marking the 2025 Christmas celebrations in the state.

During the hospital tour, the Governor's wife was presented with two babies who were born on Christmas Day. The newborns were identified as Baby Eric Chinyere Blessing, delivered at 12:02 a.m. and weighing 2.7kg, and Baby Chidugam Kinikachi Owhondah, who arrived at 2:00 a.m.

First Lady's Message and Gifts for New Mothers

Addressing the parents and hospital staff, Lady Fubara expressed gratitude to God for His faithfulness in allowing everyone to witness another Christmas season. She congratulated the mothers on the safe delivery of their children, describing the infants as special gifts and symbols of hope for the future.

"It has become a cherished tradition in Rivers State to celebrate and identify with children born on Christmas and New Year’s Day," Lady Fubara stated. She then presented gift items, which included essential toiletries and cash, to both the babies and their mothers.

The First Lady also offered crucial advice to the parents, urging them to raise the children in the fear of God so they would grow up to become valuable members of their families and society at large.

Hospital Management Applauds Government Support

In his response, the Chief Medical Director of RSUTH, Professor Chizindu Alikor, welcomed Lady Fubara and thanked her for her compassionate gesture. He also extended appreciation to the State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, for his administration's substantial support to the hospital.

Professor Alikor specifically highlighted the Governor's approval for the employment of 1,000 new staff members and the equipping of key departments within the medical facility. He assured the First Lady that the hospital management would remain dedicated to providing quality healthcare services to the people of Rivers State.

Spreading Cheer at Port Harcourt Children's Home

Earlier on Christmas Day, Lady Valerie Fubara had visited the Port Harcourt Children's Home located in the Borikiri area. There, she distributed more gift items to the children and reassured them of the state government's continued care and support.

During her inspection of the home, the First Lady commended the caregivers for maintaining a clean and habitable environment for the children. She expressed satisfaction with the level of care being provided to the orphans under their supervision.

This annual tradition by the First Family of Rivers State highlights a commitment to celebrating new life and supporting the most vulnerable during the festive season, reinforcing messages of hope, community, and shared responsibility.
