A 29-year-old man has voluntarily renounced his membership in a cult group and surrendered a Baretta pistol to the Edo State Security Corps, according to a statement released on Friday, July 17, 2026.

Voluntary Surrender After Security Alert

The zonal Commander of the Edo State Security Corps, Joel Aidamebor, disclosed that the development followed a security alert from the Chairman of Esan West Local Government Area. The chairman reported suspicious noises coming from a school near his residence, prompting an investigation.

According to Aidamebor, one of the young men in the community approached the chairman with his plan to leave the cult group. The chairman then informed the Edo State Security Corps and the Divisional Police Officer, who received the man as a voluntarily surrendered repentant cultist.
