Bandits have killed a businessman, Mallam Auwal, in Kaduna State despite receiving a N12 million ransom. Auwal was abducted from his home in Hayin Babban Saura Police Quarters.
Ransom Paid but Victim Killed
According to sources, after the family scrambled to raise the sum demanded for his release, the kidnappers allegedly killed him and claimed they had buried his body. The incident has left the community in shock.
Son Seized After Delivering Ransom
It was further learnt that the bandits seized Auwal's son, who personally delivered the ransom to secure his father's freedom. The son remains in captivity, and his whereabouts are unknown.
Funeral Prayers Held
A Salatul Gha'ib (funeral prayer in absentia) was held for Mallam Auwal at Murtala Square in Kaduna on Wednesday, August 12, 2026. Family members, neighbours, and community leaders gathered to pray for the deceased and to seek divine intervention for the safe return of his son.
