A resident, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the terrorists had attacked the village months ago but did not destroy any public or private property at that time. "I wonder why they set ablaze the Primary School and the Day Secondary School. Such attacks are unusual," the resident said.

The attack comes after pupils of Mussa Primary and Junior Secondary School in Askira-Uba were abducted for almost a month without a trace.

Police response

The Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Nahum Kenneth, could not be reached for comment on the attack. The state police have urged community vigilance and safety measures.
