Operatives of the Katsina State Police Command have apprehended a suspected notorious drug dealer who allegedly supplied illicit substances to armed bandits operating in Funtua Local Government Area and neighboring communities. The suspect, identified as Sunday Eze, popularly known as Dunbuje, was arrested by officers attached to the Central Police Station, Funtua, following intelligence-led operations.
Arrest and Recovery
According to the spokesperson of the state police command, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, the suspect was arrested at about 5:00 p.m. on July 15 after police operatives trailed him based on credible intelligence. During a search conducted on the suspect, officers recovered 500 tablets of D5, an illicit drug allegedly intended for distribution to criminal elements.
Aliyu stated that preliminary investigations indicate the suspect specialised in supplying the drugs to suspected armed bandits and other criminal groups terrorising Funtua and surrounding areas, thereby supporting their operations. The suspect is currently in police custody while investigators work to dismantle his distribution network, identify his source of supply, and arrest other members of the alleged syndicate.
Next Steps
“The suspect will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations,” Aliyu said. The police continue to urge the public to provide information that can help curb criminal activities in the region.
