In a statement released on Saturday, the Committee, through its Chairman, Abdulaziz Musa Yar'Adua, confirmed that the late senior officer was kidnapped along with his wife on 30 May 2026 on the Katsina–Matazu road before news of his death emerged. The Committee highlighted that Major General Abubakar served the nation with excellence throughout his military career and remained a respected voice in defence and security matters after retirement.
