One soldier was fatally shot as troops of the Combat Team of the 8 Division repelled a terrorist ambush during a patrol in Tangaza Local Government Area of Sokoto State. The incident occurred on July 14, 2026, at approximately 5:30 p.m., according to a post on X by security expert Zagazola Makama.
Details of the Attack
Zagazola revealed that the troops, operating from Forward Operating Base (FOB) Raka, came under attack while on patrol around Zurmuku Village. The terrorists launched the ambush as the patrol approached the area, but the troops responded decisively and fought their way out of the attack.
During the encounter, one soldier sustained gunshot wounds and was evacuated to a medical facility for treatment. Sadly, he succumbed to his injuries.
Previous Attack in the State
This latest incident follows a similar attack on June 30, 2026, when two Nigerian soldiers were killed and three others injured after troops of the Nigerian Army repelled a coordinated terrorist attack during an operation in Isa Local Government Area of the state.
