Suspect's Background

Preliminary findings revealed that the suspect is Inspector Danjuma Yusuf, formerly of Nigeria Police Force Base 7, Abuja, who had been dismissed from service. Further intelligence indicates that he is a key figure in an interstate arms trafficking syndicate allegedly supplying weapons to criminal elements involved in terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, and other violent crimes.

The suspect is currently in custody for further interrogation to uncover his network, including associates, financiers, and supply channels. The operation described the arrest as a significant disruption of illegal arms trafficking networks and underscored the effectiveness of ongoing intelligence-driven military operations aimed at curbing the proliferation of illicit weapons.

Operation Fansan Yamma Offensive

Meanwhile, troops of Operation Fansan Yamma (OPFY) have launched a fresh offensive to destroy bandits’ camps and dismantle criminal networks within Matazu Local Government Area and adjoining communities in Katsina State. The operation, tagged Clean Sweep III, follows the reported death of retired Maj.-Gen. Rabe Abubakar, a former military spokesman, who was abducted alongside his wife and later died in captivity.

In a statement, OPFY spokesperson Lt.-Col. Aliyu Danja said the operations targeted the Dikkawa Hills general area and surrounding communities, as well as identified terrorist hideouts in Adua, Nasarawa, and Karaduwa areas. According to him, several criminal enclaves were searched and combed, while terrorists’ life-support structures and logistics bases were destroyed, further degrading their ability to operate within the region.
