Delta Police Intensify Investigation with Additional Arrests in Ozoro Assault Case
The Delta State Police Command has made significant progress in its investigation into the disturbing sexual assaults that occurred in Ozoro, with the arrest of eleven more suspects. This development follows the initial reports of what was described as a "r@ping festival" in Oramudu Quarters, Ozoro, on Thursday, March 19. The latest arrests bring the total number of individuals in police custody to fifteen, as authorities work diligently to address this heinous crime.
Detailed Investigation Leads to New Apprehensions
In a statement released on Saturday, March 21, the police spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed that the CP Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT) was tasked with conducting a thorough investigation into the incident. Operatives of CP-SAT meticulously analyzed available video evidence and intelligence, which led to the identification and arrest of the additional suspects. Those apprehended include Samson Atukpodo, Steven Ovie, Ugbevo Samson, Afoke Akporobaro, Evidence Oguname, and six others whose names have not yet been disclosed.
Edafe emphasized that the police are committed to ensuring justice is served, stating that the Command's preliminary findings indicate the incident was perpetrated by criminal elements who exploited the situation to engage in acts of sexual violence. He clarified that these actions are in no way representative of any legitimate cultural practice, underscoring the criminal nature of the events.

The Commissioner of Police for Delta State Command, CP Aina Adesola, has condemned the acts in totality, reaffirming the Command's determination to identify, arrest, and prosecute all those involved in accordance with the law.
