Three Men Arraigned for Alleged Murder in Lagos

An Ikeja High Court has ordered the remand of three individuals in connection with the alleged murder of two people in the Mushin area of Lagos State. The defendants, Wasiu Akinwande (also known as Olori Eso), Qudus Egbere, and Sola Edun-Tomiwa, were brought before Justice Oyindamola Ogala on an amended five-count charge.

Details of the Alleged Crime

The Lagos State Government, represented by State Counsel Olarewaju Azeez, accused the trio of committing the offences on July 31, 2024, at approximately 11:00 a.m. The incident occurred on Mashalasi Street, Mushin, Lagos. The prosecution stated that the defendants and others still at large allegedly murdered Bolanle Yusuf and Yusuf Ramadan following a misunderstanding.

In addition to the charges of conspiracy and murder, the defendants were also accused of belonging to an unlawful society. The prosecution highlighted that these acts violate specific laws of Lagos State, including Section 2(3)(a) of the Unlawful Societies and Cultism (Prohibition) Law of Lagos State, 2021, and Sections 223 and 233 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Court Proceedings and Remand Order

During the court session, all three defendants entered a plea of not guilty to the charges brought against them. Following their plea, the prosecution requested a trial date and applied for the defendants to be held in a custodial centre. Justice Ogala granted the application, ordering that the three men be remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre.

The judge subsequently adjourned the case until January 19, 2026, for the formal commencement of the trial. This development marks a significant step in the legal process concerning the violent incident that claimed two lives in Mushin.
