The Nigeria Police Force has paraded members of a notorious one-chance syndicate allegedly responsible for the abduction, torture, and murder of two nurses in the Federal Capital Territory. The suspects reportedly collected a ransom of N3.5 million from the family of one victim before killing her.
Suspects Demonstrate Attack Method
During a crime scene reconstruction, the suspects demonstrated how they subdued their victims after being arrested for their involvement in the deaths of Nurse Chinemerem Chukwumezie and Nurse Chinenye Bridget Abia, who were killed about a month apart.
According to police findings, Chinenye was abducted while commuting within Abuja and taken to an unknown location. Her family was forced to pay N3.5 million in ransom, but despite the payment, the victim was killed and her body dumped near Katanpi Bridge along the Kubwa Expressway.
How the Syndicate Operates
One suspect explained: So once they enter, that person is already at the back while I am at the front. Then we will hold the lady... I will bring out the knife and tell the person to cooperate and give us the money we need. Then we will use cord to tie the person's hand and use a scarf to tie the person's eyes.
Police revealed that the group specifically targeted female passengers, believing they were less likely to resist attacks.
Survivor's Harrowing Account
A woman who survived the gang shared her traumatic experience, stating she still struggles with fear whenever entering vehicles. She revealed losing over N11.5 million and other valuables, including money belonging to others.
The police have urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to prevent further tragedies.
