An autopsy has been carried out on the body of a 28-year-old man who was killed by a police officer, according to activist Harrison Gwamnishu. The deceased, identified as Mine Ogidi, was shot dead by Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Nuhu Usman in the Uvwie area of Delta State on April 26.
Autopsy Proceedings
In a video statement released on Tuesday morning, Gwamnishu confirmed that members of Ogidi's family attended the autopsy proceedings. He characterized the procedure as a necessary legal formality, despite the apparent nature of the injuries sustained by the victim.
Police Custody
Gwamnishu further noted that ASP Usman and his team remain in police custody. He clarified that the officers recently paraded alongside Usman were not present at the scene of the incident. He insisted that the two individuals who aided Usman during the killing were civilians, not police personnel.
Gwamnishu emphasized the need for justice and called for a thorough investigation into the matter. He urged the public to remain calm and allow the legal process to take its course.
