The management of Gombe State University has launched an investigation following the discovery of a day-old baby boy at the institution’s female hostel.
The institution’s Public Relations Officer, Napthali Hadu, confirmed the incident in a statement. He said the university had already begun an investigation and assured the public that the findings would be disclosed in due course.
“I also heard about the unfortunate incident today at school. I will get back to you as soon as I gather more details,” he said.
Hadu disclosed that efforts are ongoing to identify the perpetrator and ensure appropriate punishment. “Security agencies are doing everything within their powers to fish out the perpetrator,” he added.
The baby has been taken to the Federal Teaching Hospital, Gombe, for medical care. Meanwhile, the university management has placed the female hostel under restriction as investigations continue.
