The security situation in Ogun State has worsened after over 15 armed bandits stormed the Oke-Eri area of Ijebu Ode, abducting three individuals. The attackers also shot a woman while fleeing into a nearby forest.
Attack Details
Eyewitnesses and family members reported that the gunmen invaded the community at approximately 7:00 p.m., catching residents off guard. The attackers were armed with sophisticated weapons and operated without masks, except for one member of the group. They ransacked a house before abducting three members of a family and attempted to gain access to another house but failed.
Victims and Response
The head of the affected family, a government employee, was reportedly away at his duty post during the incident. Community leader Mr. Kehinde of Ipojo Golden Estate described the event as disturbing and called for urgent government and security intervention. He expressed shock that such an attack could occur in a well-developed area of the state and appealed for intensified efforts to rescue the victims.
Mr. Yesiru Badewa, head of the Badewa family, said the incident has devastated the family. He noted that two women and a man were abducted and expressed concern over the health of one kidnapped woman who was ill. He appealed to the Ogun State Government and stakeholders to assist in securing the victims' safe return.
Community Fear
Residents said the attack has created widespread fear, with many now reluctant to move freely. They urged the government to strengthen security presence in the area to prevent further incidents.
