Details of the Arrest and Investigation

Corps Commander Soji Ganzallo disclosed the incident in a statement issued by the Director of Information and Public Relations, Assistant Commander Adegunwa Adegbuyi, from Abeokuta, the state capital. According to Ganzallo, on April 10, 2026, at approximately 4:00 pm, the Director of Anti-Arms Smuggling, ACC Abdulkareem Abdulrazaq, received the distress call from the monarch regarding a suspected murder case.

The patrol team from the Anti-Arms Smuggling unit responded swiftly, leading to the arrest of the suspect. Preliminary interrogation revealed that Solomon Fadele Sunday met the female victim, identified as Taye, and persuaded her to live with him. She died under mysterious circumstances during their cohabitation.

Suspect's Confession and Victim Information

The suspect, a resident of Ihunbo, confessed that he encountered Taye on Sunday, April 5, 2026, in Ihunbo town. After approaching her, they began living together under the same roof until her death on April 10, 2026. Furthermore, the suspect stated that the victim hailed from Ikoga, Lagos State, but he did not know her specific house or have any information about her family.

Commander Ganzallo confirmed that the suspect has been handed over to the Nigeria Police Force at the Idiroko Divisional Headquarters for further investigation and potential prosecution. The victim's corpse was transported to the Ilaro Mortuary by the police for examination and handling.
