Thief Trapped in Kitchen Vent During Failed Robbery in Kota
Burglar Stuck in Exhaust Fan During Kota Robbery Attempt

In a scene straight out of a comedy film, a burglar's attempt to rob a house in Kota, Rajasthan, ended in humiliating failure after he got himself trapped in a kitchen exhaust fan vent.

The Sticky Situation

The incident unfolded in the early hours of Sunday, January 4, 2026. The homeowner, Subhash Kumar Rawat, and his wife had returned to their house around 1 am after a trip to the Khatu Shyam temple the previous day. Upon entering their premises, they were met with an unbelievable sight: the legs of a man dangling from their kitchen's exhaust fan shaft.

The upper half of the intruder's body was inside the building, while his lower half hung helplessly outside. The couple immediately alerted the police.

Police Rescue and Arrest

Officers arrived promptly at the scene and managed to extract the trapped man by pulling him fully into the kitchen. The suspect, identified as Pavan from Digod village in the Kota district, was then taken into custody.

Investigations revealed that Pavan was not acting alone. An accomplice fled the scene when Pavan became stuck, leaving his partner in crime to his fate. From the suspect, police recovered a car key and later seized the associated vehicle, which was found fitted with a police sticker and white curtains. The car is believed to have been used by the duo to move around the city.

Viral Video and Ongoing Manhunt

A video of the bizarre incident, showing the thief wedged in the vent, quickly went viral on social media, drawing widespread amusement and disbelief. The footage captured the sheer absurdity of the failed burglary attempt, which left the thief stuck for about an hour before help arrived.

While Pavan is now in police custody, authorities are actively working to trace and apprehend his accomplice who managed to escape. The case serves as a stark and somewhat humorous reminder that crime does not pay, especially when one chooses such a precarious point of entry.
