Content Creator Narrates Horrific Rape Ordeal After Fake Modelling Job in Lagos

A content creator and thrift vendor, popularly known as Fems Thrift, has bravely come forward to share a harrowing account of how she and a friend were raped after being deceived into attending what they believed was a legitimate modelling job in the Ajao Estate area of Lagos State. Fems detailed her traumatic experience in a TikTok video, shedding light on the dangers faced by job seekers in the digital age.

Deceptive Job Offer Leads to Nightmare Scenario

According to Fems, the incident unfolded on Sunday, February 8, after a man contacted her on Instagram. He claimed to have recently returned from the United Kingdom with plans to establish an international fashion brand in Nigeria. The man offered her a fee of N140,000 for a modelling assignment and requested that she promote the brand using her social media platforms. Initial contact was made on February 1, and Fems agreed to the job after receiving assurances that a full production team, including a make-up artist, would be present at the shoot. For safety reasons, she brought a friend along to the venue.

Empty Apartment and Escalating Threats

Upon arriving at the apartment around 11 a.m. on the agreed date, Fems and her friend found the place largely empty. The man allegedly told them it was a content creation studio and claimed the make-up artist had stepped out briefly. He then asked Fems to take a shower to prepare for her makeup session and shoot, citing her face as oily despite her having showered earlier. He provided a robe for her to change into. After she complied, the man entered the room under the pretext of demonstrating how to lock the door ahead of the arrival of other crew members.

The situation quickly escalated when the man locked the door, threatened Fems and her friend with a knife, and tied them up, forcing them to comply with his demands. He proceeded to rape them one after the other while they were restrained. Additionally, their mobile phones were seized, and they were forced to unlock private folders, with personal files allegedly transferred to the suspect.

Threats and Aftermath of the Attack

The perpetrator threatened to release their personal clips online if they reported the incident or spoke publicly about it. Fems recounted, "He threatened me with my internet presence, saying if I spoke up, he would release my private videos now and in the future." The victims managed to leave the apartment between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. the same day, but the incident left Fems with significant physical and emotional injuries. She stated, "Because I was bruised bad down there. I was injured."

Call for Justice and Public Awareness

Fems has called for justice for herself and her friend, urging authorities to arrest the man to protect other job seekers from falling victim to similar schemes. Her story highlights the critical need for increased safety measures and vigilance when responding to online job offers, especially in industries like modelling and content creation where such scams are prevalent.
