A 24-year-old father in Valencia, Spain, has been arrested after allegedly killing his two-year-old son's speech therapist. The suspect, identified locally as David G.S., turned himself in at a police station in Burjassot with bloodied hands, reportedly confessing to the murder.
Incident Details
The father claimed he briefly left his son with the 32-year-old speech therapist to smoke a cigarette. Upon returning, he allegedly found the child with his trousers down and no diaper on. Enraged, he confronted the therapist, demanding to see security camera footage from inside the clinic.
Witnesses reported hearing the father yell, 'Either you show me the cameras or I’ll kill you.' He then allegedly slit the therapist's throat with a knife he was carrying.
Aftermath
After the attack, the suspect dropped his son off at their home on the outskirts of Valencia before going to the police station to confess. Officers rushed to the clinic and found the victim lying in a pool of blood. The area was cordoned off for forensic examination.
A post-mortem is expected to show that the speech therapist died from a slash wound to the neck, causing hypovolemic shock and loss of more than 20 percent of his blood volume.
Legal Proceedings
It is not yet clear whether the suspect will appear before an investigating judge. He will almost certainly be remanded to a local prison following his court appearance, which will take place behind closed doors, as is routine in Spain.
