Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested two suspects and seized two locally-fabricated Beretta pistols during a routine stop-and-search operation along the Warri-Agbarho Road. The command’s spokesperson, Superintendent Bright Edafe, confirmed the development in a statement issued on Sunday in Warri.
Details of the Operation
According to Mr. Edafe, the arrests occurred on Saturday when the command’s Safer Highway Patrol teams were conducting routine checks. The officers intercepted a Mercedes-Benz ML SUV and conducted a thorough search of the vehicle. During the search, they recovered two locally-made Beretta pistols, each loaded with nine rounds of live ammunition.

Additional Seizures and Escape
In addition to the firearms, the police recovered approximately 200 grammes of a substance suspected to be cocaine, a walkie-talkie, a dagger, a grinder, and two sophisticated mobile phones. Mr. Edafe noted that a third occupant of the vehicle managed to escape during the preliminary interrogation of the arrested suspects.
The two suspects are currently in police custody, and investigations are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing member of the alleged criminal gang. The Delta State Police Command has urged members of the public to provide any information that could lead to the recapture of the escaped suspect.
