The Delta State Police Command has apprehended two suspected criminals and seized illicit drugs, firearms, and other incriminating evidence during a routine stop-and-search operation along the Agbarho–Warri Road. The operation, conducted by operatives of the Safer Highway Patrol on 25 July 2026, led to the arrest of Omini Ezeri, 46, and Chinedum Wagbara, 42, both residents of Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
Details of the Stop-and-Search Operation
The suspects were intercepted while traveling in a grey Mercedes-Benz ML SUV with registration number AAA 604 JZ. According to the command's spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, a third occupant of the vehicle, identified as God Knows Ifreke, fled the scene during the preliminary interrogation, escaping into a nearby swamp. The police have launched a manhunt for the fugitive.
Recovered Items
During a thorough search of the vehicle, officers recovered two locally fabricated Beretta pistols loaded with nine rounds of live ammunition, approximately 200 grams of a substance suspected to be cocaine, one walkie-talkie, one dagger, one grinder, and two sophisticated phones. Edafe confirmed that the suspects are currently in custody, and investigations are ongoing to determine the origin and intended use of the seized items.
