A resident of Delta State, Frederick Kanayo, has accused the sons of his landlord of assaulting him and his wife over a rent dispute. Kanayo shared his experience in a Facebook post on Saturday, June 6, 2026, stating that the incident occurred 15 days after his rent had expired.
According to Kanayo, one of the landlord's sons slapped his wife. When he attempted to intervene, the other son struck him on the head with a large stone. “My name is Frederick Kanayo, I'm from Imo state. I'm based in Delta State, in Asaba, precisely in Okpanam, at one Mr Okonkwo's compound. 15 days passed renewing of my rent, his two sons and his wife came to my domot, and took law into their own hands,” he wrote. “One of the sons slapped my wife. Then I came down the pavement, not to fight them but just to separate them, the other son came to my back, and hit me a big stone on my head. They made away with my face. That's my picture.”
The incident has sparked outrage among social media users, with many calling for justice for the couple. The Delta State Police Command has yet to issue a statement regarding the matter. Kanayo is urging authorities to take action against the perpetrators.
