Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo has strongly condemned the reported kidnapping of several individuals at the Vegetable Market along Airport Road in Benin City. He described the incident as unacceptable and directed the Edo State Commissioner of Police to launch an immediate investigation aimed at rescuing the victims and bringing those responsible to justice.
In a statement issued by his media aide, Patrick Ebojele, on Monday, Okpebholo emphasized that the state government would not tolerate any act that threatens public safety or disrupts the peace of the state. “I strongly condemn this act of kidnapping and I call on the Commissioner of Police to immediately open investigation into the matter. As a government, we will not tolerate any act that threatens public safety and security or disturbs the peace of the state,” he said.
The governor also urged residents of Benin City and other parts of Edo State to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the nearest police station. He noted that timely information from members of the public would assist security agencies in their ongoing operations. Okpebholo assured residents that his administration would continue to pursue those behind the attack until they are arrested and made to face the full weight of the law.
