The Edo State Police Command has apprehended five individuals suspected of kidnapping and successfully rescued a female victim in Jattu. The command's spokesperson, ASP Eno Ikoedem, made this known in a statement released on Monday, May 18, 2026.
Details of the Arrest
According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), the suspects have been identified as Nura Saminu, 24, Shaibu Isah, 23, Suraj Sabitu, 23, Yajubu Sagiru, 23, and Oseni Abdullahi, 26. They are accused of abducting the victim, Jemila Ibrahim, on May 13, 2026.
The statement read: “On 13th May, 2026, at about 1930hrs, security operatives engaged in sustained bush combing operations around Okpege River Road, Iyuku Community in Jattu, successfully rescued one Jemila Ibrahim, who was kidnapped on 10th May, 2026.”
Victim's Condition and Suspects' Status
The victim was rescued unharmed and subsequently taken to a hospital for medical evaluation. The suspects allegedly responsible for her abduction have been arrested and are currently in custody. They will be arraigned before a court once investigations are concluded.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Monday Agbonika, fdc, commended the operatives involved in the operation. He reassured residents of Edo State of the command’s commitment to sustaining the fight against kidnapping and other violent crimes in the region.
