Eight Men Sentenced to 73 Years for Filming Gang Rape of British Teen in Spanish Hotel
In a shocking case that has drawn international attention, eight men have been jailed for a total of 73 years for gang-raping an 18-year-old British girl in a hotel in Spain and filming the brutal assault. The incident, which occurred on August 14, 2023, involved seven Frenchmen and one Swiss man who recorded their vile actions and shared images and videos on social media platforms.
Details of the Attack and Investigation
According to prosecutors, two of the men were staying at the BH Mallorca Resort hotel and lured the semi-conscious woman to room 108 after plying her with alcohol. Local media reported that around 7:30 AM, these two men then invited a group of strangers from the corridor to join them in the hotel room for what they described as free sex.
The attackers undressed the victim and raped her for approximately half an hour, taking advantage of the secluded room. Prosecutors stated that they performed various sexual acts on her, acting in concert and without the young woman's consent. The assault was captured in videos that were later shared on Snapchat, where vile comments were made by the men watching and egging on the others.
Social Media Evidence and Arrests
In the videos, one attacker was heard saying, She lets us touch her; we're going to have some fun today, while another remarked, There are four of us and a cow. Prosecutors noted that the defendants boasted of their actions with the clear intention of humiliating and violating the victim's privacy.
After the attack, the woman managed to flee the room and alerted local police with the help of hotel staff. She reported waking up surrounded by young men holding mobile phones. The Civil Guard opened an investigation and arrested the men. Police found that one attacker still had 14 videos of the brutal assault on his phone, totaling 170 seconds, while another had five videos, and a third had two more. The videos showed the men enjoying themselves and laughing during the rape.
