A tragic incident has unfolded in Onitsha, Anambra State, where a site engineer, identified simply as Emeka, died after being allegedly thrown from a four-storey building. The event occurred in the early hours of Friday, March 27, 2026, at 17 Afubera Street, Odoakpu, within the Onitsha South local government area.
Accusation of Theft Leads to Fatal Altercation
According to reports, Emeka was accused of stealing boxer shorts belonging to his employer, which sparked a violent confrontation. A resident named Chichi provided details, stating that Emeka was severely beaten and then locked up in a room for three days prior to the fatal incident. Chichi recounted hearing a loud shout around 3 am, after which residents discovered Emeka's lifeless body on the ground with his head tied, suggesting he had been thrown from the fourth floor of the building.

The Anambra State Police have taken swift action in response to this tragedy. The police spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed that key suspects have been arrested, and a thorough investigation has been initiated to uncover the exact circumstances surrounding Emeka's death.
