Enugu Police Dismiss Fake News of School Attack

The Enugu State Police Command has categorically denied a false report circulating on social media claiming that armed herdsmen attacked a school in Ezeagu Local Government Area of the state. In a statement issued by the Command's spokesperson, SP Daniel Ndukwe, the police described the report as entirely unfounded and misleading.

According to Ndukwe, immediate security assessments, intelligence gathering, operational actions, and discreet investigations launched by the Command revealed that no such attack occurred in any school within Ezeagu LGA or any other part of Enugu State. The police have intensified efforts to identify, apprehend, and prosecute the individuals responsible for originating and disseminating the false report.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, has directed the Command's Tactical and Intelligence Units to ensure that the originators and peddlers of the false report are arrested and made to face the full weight of the law. He reiterated the Command's unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property, as well as maintaining peace, safety, and public order in schools and across the state.

CP Giwa urged residents to disregard the report and remain calm, law-abiding, and security conscious. He encouraged the public to promptly report any suspicious persons, activities, or security concerns to the nearest police station or any security agency.
