The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested ten suspected vandals in separate operations across Kubwa, Wuye, and the National Mosque area, recovering armoured cables and a vandalised solar street light. The arrests were confirmed in a statement by SP Joseph Adeh, the command's spokesperson, on September 2, 2026.
Arrests in Kubwa and Wuye
In the first operation, a police patrol team from Kubwa Division, while on routine patrol around Bazango-Kubwa at about 6pm, sighted individuals vandalizing armoured cables. The suspects were identified as Goodname Oriarebun, male, 29 years, of Gishiri, Mabushi; Timothy Donald, male, 28 years, of Arab Road, Kubwa; Ayo Buli, female, 26 years, of Gishiri, Mabushi; Emmanuel Elijah, male, 28 years, of Shelter Farm, Byazhin, Kubwa; and Christian David, male, 28 years, of Kabba, Kagini, Abuja.
Similarly, a police patrol team from Wuye Division arrested one Moses Luka while he was in the act of digging out armoured cables along the road between Magic Land and National Stadium, Abuja. The swift response by the patrol teams underscores the command's commitment to curbing infrastructure vandalism in the territory.
National Mosque Operation
In another operation, a police surveillance team from Wuse Division arrested four suspects, namely Musa Abdullahi, Suleiman Idris, Aliyu Isa, and Muhammed Abdulrahman, around the National Mosque area of the FCT. The suspects had cut down a solar-powered street light in an attempt to vandalise and remove its components. The recovery of the vandalised solar street light highlights the ongoing threat to public infrastructure in the capital.
SP Adeh stated that investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend other members of the various syndicates, including the receivers of stolen public infrastructure. All suspects remain in Police custody and will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations, according to the command's spokesperson.
Public Vigilance Urged
SP Adeh urged residents of the FCT to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious persons or activities to the nearest Police Station or through the Command's emergency lines: 08032003913 and 08028940883. The command's appeal comes as part of broader efforts to protect public assets and ensure the safety of residents across the territory.
