A Federal Government investigative panel has disclosed that crossdresser Bobrisky, whose real name is Okuneye Olanrewaju, enjoyed numerous privileges during his six-month imprisonment at the Medium Security Custodial Centre in Kirikiri, Lagos. According to the panel's report, Bobrisky was housed in a private cell equipped with a personal toilet and bathroom, a television set, a refrigerator, carpeting, a humidifier, and other amenities.
Details of Special Treatment
The report further stated that Bobrisky was permitted to receive visitors at any time and in any number he desired. Family members were also allowed to bring him meals. At the Maximum Security Custodial Centre, his cell was furnished with wallpaper, a large bed, a carpet, a television, and a humidifier. An inmate was reportedly assigned to attend to his personal needs.
Soundproofed Cell Discovery
One of the panel's key findings was the discovery of a soundproofed door attached to Bobrisky's cell, a feature that distinguished it from every other cell on the same floor. The panel also expressed the belief that Bobrisky had access to mobile phones while in custody, despite prison regulations prohibiting such use.
Background of Investigation
The investigation was launched after social media activist VeryDarkMan shared an audio recording in which Bobrisky allegedly claimed he paid officials to secure special treatment during his imprisonment. The panel has now recommended further investigations into the allegations and advised that VeryDarkMan be investigated over alleged data privacy violations and the dissemination of what it described as unverified claims.
