Meeting Scheduled in Abuja

In a statement released on Saturday, May 2, 2026, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, confirmed that the Acting High Commissioner has been invited to Abuja for discussions. The meeting is set to take place on Monday, May 4, 2026, at the Ministry's headquarters.

Ebienfa emphasized that the engagement aims to formally convey the Nigerian Government's deep concern over recent events that could undermine the traditionally cordial relations between Nigeria and South Africa.

The talks will center on ongoing demonstrations by various groups in South Africa and documented instances of mistreatment of Nigerian citizens, including attacks on their businesses.
